Bray-Dunes was one of the beaches used during Dunkirk evacuation. It’s iconic sand dunes feature in many photos taken in May and June 1940.

After the defeat of France, the beaches in this area became part of the Atlantic Wall, the fortifications of which can be seen today and feature in the second half of the photos.
