Thulin is a small Belgian village near the border with France.
The original photos of the fighting here were taken by Eric Borchert some of which appear in his 1941 book, Decisive Hours. They show soldiers of Infantry Regiment 469 which was part of 269 Infantry Division retaking the village.
Several of the photos shown will be familiar as they often make appearances in books on World War Two but it is thanks to the superlative After The Battle book “Blitzkrieg in the West: Then and Now” by Jean Paul Pallud that finally put the pictures into a coherent order.
