Houx

Just north of Dinant lies the village of Houx. A feature of the Meuse here is the island which is accessible via a weir on the east side and a system of locks on the west side.

This is the location where the first troops of Army Group A reached the west bank of the Meuse on the evening of 12th May.

The photos show various views of the island, the weir, lock and surrounding countryside.

The “Then and Now” comparisons were taken south of the island and fortunately the boat makes a nice stand in for the SdKfz 221
