The Dunkirk Memorial

The Dunkirk Memorial commemorates more than 4,500 casualties of the British Expeditionary Force who died in the campaign of 1939-40 or who died in captivity during this campaign and who have no known grave.

Like all CWGC sites I have visited, it is both an understated and moving memorial.

I chose to show the photo of Lt Dick Olive because his story which is told on page 372 of Dunkirk Fight to the last man (75th Anniversary Edition) by Hugh Sebag-Montefiore has stayed with me.
