These photographs capture the Grebbe Line fortifications in the Asschatterkeerkade area, where the bunkers remain remarkably well-preserved—only one shows significant damage. Following the Dutch defeat at the Battle of Grebbeberg and facing the threat of being outflanked by advancing German forces, these defensive positions were abandoned by their defenders.

The bunker pictured below suffered damage from an explosive accident during mine-clearing operations though whether this occurred immediately after the battle or in the post-war period remains uncertain. The damage resulted from the detonation of several mines during the clearance process.

A memorial stands among the bunkers, commemorating four civilians who were executed by German forces in April 1945 in retaliation for shots fired at their troops.
